Since 1995 SafeGen, (formerly known as The Job Safety Skills Society of Alberta), has proudly provided workplace safety education to students, teachers, schools and many school districts throughout the province of Alberta. We have provided free resources and educational content and issued certificates of completion to over 140,000 students! We are incredibly proud of the work we have done and the accomplishments of the students over our 28-year history.

It’s time for a change…
It is a new era, and we are pleased to announce SafeGen will be joining CAREERSCAREERS and SafeGen are aligned in their commitment to empowering youth in their journey of future employment. This partnership will give CAREERS the ability to provide both work integrated learning opportunities and the necessary accreditation to ensure safety. This will ultimately help streamline the process and make things quicker and easier for educators and youth entering our programs.

What does this mean for teachers and students?
The changes will be in place for the beginning of the 2023/2024 school year this September, and If you belong to one of the hundreds of schools across Alberta who benefits from SafeGen’s free safety education programs you can expect no changes or disruption in services. CAREERS will continue to provide all courses currently offered by SafeGen including HCS 3000, HCS 3010, AGR 3000, and Youth Mental Health in the Workplace.

You can expect all services and processes to continue seamlessly as you enter the new school year. This next chapter will build on the programs and continue with development of rich content to empower youth for many years to come.

We are privileged to have been able to help so many youth gain valuable knowledge about health and safety – thank you for letting us be a part of the next generation’s education.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, please email: communications@nextgen.org

Thank you all for trusting SafeGen with your students’ safety education.

Yours in safety – the SafeGen team.
