Young Worker Safety Month is back, and this year the theme is:
Finding Your New Normal: Self-Care Tips for Young Workers
The second annual Young Worker Safety Month (YWSM 2021) will be launched throughout Alberta this August. SafeGen (formerly Job Safety Skills Society) has again teamed up with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Alberta Division (CMHA, Alberta Division) and HeadsUp Alberta (young worker safety awareness group), to address the need for coping skills for youth, as Alberta opens. The online campaign will deliver tools, tips and tactics about how to transition from social isolation to a ‘new normal’.
Our three organizations have come together to promote key messaging that focuses on over scheduling, the use of mental health resources, and overall self-care at work and at home. Young Albertans (ages 15-24) have had to show amazing adaptability and strength during the last year and a half, and as our province makes rapid strides to return to resume ‘normal’ activities, youth are quickly having to adjust their schedules and their lives.
The 2021 campaign will focus on helping youth make the switch back to busy day-to-day routines smoother, while taking pause to check in with themselves and use targeted techniques to stay heathy and safe, at home and at work. The campaign will feature an Instagram contest encouraging young Albertans to share habits or tricks that they are using to support themselves and adapt to their ‘new normal’, and will start August 3, 2021.
One lucky winner will receive:
- A FitBit Versa 2
- One Cineplex Odeon Gift Card gift card worth $100
- Two tickets (worth $700 each) to the CMHA’s Working Stronger Conference (taking place in early 2022)
Weekly prizes of $10 Chapters/Indigo Gift Cards will also be awarded.
The social media campaign will feature posts available on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter available at:
