2021/22 Youth Workplace Safety Video Contest

Who: Youth aged 15-24
What: A video contest centered around youth taking responsibility for their own and others’ safety at work
When: Videos must be submitted by 4:00 pm, April 11, 2022
Where: Open to residents of Alberta
Why: At SafeGen we want to empower youth to not only learn detailed workplace safety procedures, but also to speak up and take control of their own safety
This is an amazing opportunity to showcase your knowledge and creativity!
2021/22 Prizes:
- 1st Place: $1500, $1000 for the winner’s school, and a chance to visit a filming location with Lindisfarne Productions
- 2nd Place: $1500
- 3rd Place: $1500
Theme: MY FIRST JOB
Are you at your first job, or thinking about starting work soon? Maybe you’ve been on the job for a couple of years, and you wish you’d had more safety knowledge or education… What tips do you have for the best, and safest experience at work?
Videos must adhere to the general theme and fall under one of the following categories:
- Being fit for work – (e.g. Proper amount of sleep, no injuries that keep you from your tasks, not on medication that could make you drowsy, not sick, etc.)
- Harassment and Bullying
- Overtired and over scheduled
- Youth employment standards, rights and responsibilities
- Farm Safety – my first job in agriculture
- The importance of workplace safety education for a safer first job experience
Be creative! You can depict the correct or incorrect way of doing things, but you must be safe when filming.
How to Enter
- Create your video and upload it to your YouTube account or IGTV (Instagram) feed.
- Download our Contest Package (below), print forms, and fill them out completely.
- Scan forms into one PDF file or image files (5 MAX).
- Fill out the CONTEST ENTRY ONLINE FORM (below), attach your files, and press send!
